At eleven years old, Willa, had outgrown her bedroom. She had various plastic storage bins scattered about the room to compensate for the inefficient use of space. A small desk prevented her from spreading out while working on school projects or her own creative endeavours. To combat these problems we created a Marino Twin over Full bunk and custom flote 40 desk in a breathtaking, crisp white. Willa’s room already received an impressive amount of natural light, adding the all white finish to her new furniture allowed it to appear even brighter as sunlight bounces around. With her new desk and bed placed parallel to each other, the space has a clear path and each section is functional.
Our twin over full bunk bed expands the sleeping options in the room. Willa, soon approaching her teen years, can spread out comfortably on her full sized bed or sleep in the top bunk when overnight guests arrive. To ensure she no longer needs storage bins, trundle storage drawers were installed underneath her bed. This is in addition to her storage stairs that access the top bunk, in which each step is a deep drawer where she can put away more clothing. This geometric bed with functionally designed cut outs pops against a purple wall.
The impressive eight foot long floating desk is large enough to accomodate a desktop computer and many of Willa’s stuffed animals. Nine drawers and three rows of shelving are more than sufficient for storing all supplies she could need. Wire management holes and shelving are used to keep the clutter at bay. Left of Willa’s desk, we installed a magnetic dry erase board. Ideal for displaying artwork and upcoming reminders.
