Thayer’s room is centered around a custom color-blocked alcove, where bold blue paint wraps the walls and ceiling to frame the custom twin size platform bed we designed for his room. At the ends of the bed we fabricated and wrapped two panels in upholstery that matches the paint color and attached them to the wall, adding both texture and softness to the space.
A matching seat cushion at the foot of the bed adds a fun lounge area for Thayer to sit and read. Below the platform are two rows of drawers that offer generous storage for clothes, bedding, and other essentials.
Along the adjacent wall, a custom cabinet provides a mix of open and closed storage, with shelving specifically designed for Thayer’s growing vinyl collection. A record player sits neatly on top, while a floating wall-mounted cabinet offers additional concealed storage with a small center cubby for display items.
The furniture in this room is painted in all white with exposed birch edges that add depth and visual dimension to the designs. This project was completed in collaboration with interior designer Jen Levy.
