When this TriBeCa family wanted to create a safe space that maximized storage room without overcrowding the room or making the furniture look heavy for their 9-year-old son, Liam, they turned to Casa Kids to make a functional, beautiful, kid-friendly space. Scroll through to see how we created a custom design that met their needs.
We chose a loft daybed with storage drawers below to create space for sleepovers and storage. A notch in the wall meant that a trundle bed wasn’t an option—we were able to customize storage drawers beneath the daybed to make use of that space.
Prior to our design, open storage left the room feeling cluttered. We added closed storage to keep the space looking neat and organized and left strategic open shelving for books, bins, and display items. Liam’s parents also wanted him to be able to see what was inside of his drawers without leaving them looking cluttered or disorganized. We designed custom drawer faces that matched their vision.
A pull-out shoe tray was a top wish list item, so we created a dresser that featured one at the bottom.
To maximize space and storage in the desk area, we designed a long desktop with a set of three drawers to the right of the desk and attached an upper storage cabinet with doors to the wall to keep schoolwork and books out of sight.
