Claudia and Paul's Room: An Innovative Space-Saving Room Division

Step into this uniquely designed shared bedroom where we had to get creative in designing a functional room division in a narrow bedroom. This project redefines what a room division can be with our custom "S-Shape" bunk bed as the central partition. The bunk bed creates distinct zones, with access to the top bunk via ladder on the right side of the room, and lower bunk entrance on the left side of the room. Privacy panels were added to ensure both beds feel like cozy, separate spaces. Beneath the bunk bed structure, trundle storage drawers offer practical solutions for organizing, toys, clothes, and bedding.

To add to the rooms functionality, modular desks were placed at the head of the bed and also function as part of the room division. Each desk features open cubbies, concealed storage behind doors, and pencil drawers below the desktop. We added letter slots on the back of the desks to allow the kids to pass notes back and forth. Paired with our ConnectMe chairs, these desks provide a modern, cohesive aesthetic.

This room's division is further enhanced by framed partition panels. Between the desks and wall a solid birch panel offers privacy, while frosted plexiglass panels above the desks filter in natural light throughout the space. To complete the room division, we designed sliding pocket doors with frosted plexiglass centers to create private entraaces on either side, with additional overhead panels extending to the ceiling for a seamless design.

The finish throughout this project is natural birch plywood, lending a warm, cohesive feel while showcasing the craftsmanship of every element. Designed to make the most of every square inch, this shared bedroom balances privacy, functionality, and style for two growing kids.
