Liya’s room features a custom twin size daybed with upholstered panels along the headboard, footboard, and back panel, creating a plush and supportive nook for reading, lounging, and sleeping. To accommodate the thickness of the panels, we designed the frame with a subtle taper, angling upward to the top edge to create a nice silhouette.
The soft lavender upholstery adds a delicate pop of color to the otherwise all white furniture, adding texture to the plywood framed bed. Tucked neatly beneath the bed is a trundle bed, making it easy for Liya to host overnight guests.
Across from the bed, three low-profile modular units provide a practical and flexible storage solution for Liya. This configuration includes two Modulor storage units, one with and one without doors, and one Modular desk unit, giving Liya a dedicated workspace for homework, drawing, or other projects.
The furniture in this room is painted in all white with exposed birch edges that add depth and visual dimension to the designs. This project was completed in collaboration with interior designer Jen Levy.
With everything arranged at the same level, this layout creates a comfortable, functional flow that’s easy to maintain and perfect for a growing kid to stay organized. And as Liya’s needs evolve, we can easily expand this set up with floating upper cabinets to give her even more storage space.
